HOW ROOM SIGNAGE CAN CHANGE YOUR REC CENTER

A NEW WAY TO MANAGE YOUR FACILITY

Each year, the physical and digital worlds combine in innovative ways that change rec centers around the country. Innovative new technology is paving the way to engage more people in health and fitness than ever before. With around 90% of people saying they want to spend as much or even MORE time at their local rec centers, facilities need to be prepared for the oncoming swath of new workout partners. More members joining means more management and avenues of communication are required in order to ensure visitors get the best possible experience. That is where recreation digital signage can help. As these facilities add more members, rooms and workout areas will begin to fill at levels where room capacities may be filled. When this occurs, clear and easy-to-access communication will be required to ensure visitors can still get in the workouts they want in a timely manner. With proper room signage display integration, you can queue visitors into when workout rooms will be available, along with a host of other effective utilities. This can result in greater engagement, reduced frustration, and streamlined communication. If you haven’t begun your digital signage journey, click the button below for a free demo!

WHAT IS ROOM DIGITAL SIGNAGE?

Room-based digital signage solutions is a wide-encompassing term used to describe digital signage displays that can be found in collaborative spaces, conference rooms, and other gathering areas. Placing signage in these areas can be beneficial in a variety of ways. When not in use, these displays can still advertise new workout classes, promote facility events, or present registration points for anyone passing by. Alternatively, room displays can also be used to present schedules for each room. If a room is reserved for a specific time, a room signage display can let users know how long that room is available for until the next class. Open gym hours can be shown just outside the gym doors or in locker rooms, letting people know when the gym will be reserved for events or practices. This can apply to all areas, including exercise classes, weight rooms, pools, and other fitness hot spots. Taking things a step further, these displays can also be outfitted with touch screen capabilities. Once set up, touch screen displays can give users direct control over their experience, allowing them to register for classes or reserve rooms for personal use. This also cuts down on frustration by reducing wait times at the front desk.

HOW TO USE ROOM SIGNAGE DISPLAYS

In the previous section, we outlined some popular use cases we see rec centers employ. Promoting classes, presenting room schedule times, and touch screen interactivity are all effective methods of engaging your audience. However, certain factors outside your display also play a part in your signage’s success. For example: foot traffic. Generally, you will want to place your displays where there will be lots of people walking around. This gives your display the potentially highest volume of eyes, therefore, increasing your chance of encouraging a favorable action. Ideally, you would want signage in each of your major workout areas and gathering spots. However, if you plan to limit your signage a little more, that’s okay! In this scenario, we encourage clients to analyze exactly what it is they hope to accomplish with their signage and select their screen’s placement based on where it would make the biggest difference. For instance, if you wanted to increase registrations for classes across the board, introducing signage in the lobby outfitted with QR scans and promotional assets would likely be the best spot. Lobbies are high-traffic gathering areas where many people are often left waiting around. As they wait, you can engage them with dynamic content that could spur them to sign up for a class or event. If they desire more detailed information, they can immediately follow-up with the front desk. This provides holistic marketing experiences that can result in immediate action.
