THE CHALLENGE

As stated above, Texas State Technical College wanted a solution that would help boost engagement and share information across its 11 campuses. The appeal of pushing content out from a centralized content-management system would allow the college to share similar announcements and templates across each location, yet would still be able to share branded assets, prebuilt layouts, and so forth. Thus, an integrated CMS would benefit marketing teams by streamlining communication-based workflows. Before signing on with REACH, Texas State Technical experimented with 2 different signage solutions. However, neither fit the use cases the college had in mind.

The first solution lacked sufficient education sector knowledge and lacked assets that could be easily applied to a college setting. The other solution did not have enough features the school was looking for, and was restrictive in its creative possibilities. Texas Technical wanted a solution that allowed them complete creative control of their content creation, had templates and styles suitable for educational environments, and could be published/managed from a central location.

After a successful demo with REACH, Texas State Tech found what they were looking for!

THE SOLUTION

Since partnering with REACH, Texas State Technical has expanded its signage program to 80 licenses across 60 displays. Despite the large number of displays, the entire network is managed by one person: Digital Media Coordinator Freddy Rodriguez.

Freddy is in charge of creates, publishes, and manages all the content that is pushed to 60 displays. These displays are in various high-traffic areas, such as student lounges, lobby entrances, and program buildings. Each screen is outfitted with content centered around engaging students and providing useful information on events or clubs on campus. With this goal in mind, Rodriguez has created a variety of templates, all fitted with the school’s branding, that can be shared with each campus. This allows each location to share the same general look and feel, while tailoring some of its content to the specific needs of each facility.

The result is a unified college network that can address the community’s needs by quickly sharing important digital announcements. Such a cohesive integration has streamlined Freddy’s work, allowing him to create and publish ads efficiently and even create seasonal content for special occasions.

THE RESULTS

The school’s successful signage implementation are readily apparent to anyone who visits campus. The school can provide snapshots of important information about the school and its offers, including available programs, statistics regarding future career opportunities, and even highlighting student accomplishments.

These all create a more informed, unified campus where students feel educated in their decision-making and confident in school communication. Through REACH’s flexible software, Texas State Tech has even been able to introduce animations through CSS coding in some of its designs.

Recently, the school was even able to provide news and weather updates regarding Texas’s recent bout with Hurricane Beryl. This allowed students, families, and staff to make informed decisions regarding their safety and transportation. Eventually, the school hopes to expand to 100 screens, with some eventually employing interactive, touchscreen technology!
