The North Charleston Coliseum has been the home of the South Carolina Stingrays since 1993, while the Performing Arts Center has been open since 1999. Owned by the City of North Charleston, it can host 15,300 visitors between the two facilities. In addition to hosting ECHL games of their home team, the Coliseum also hosts numerous events featuring prominent names in the entertainment industry. Meanwhile, the Performing Arts Center hosts a wide range of events, including concerts, symphonies, ballets, art festivals, and other artistic endeavors. With such a large audience and diverse set of events going on throughout the year, the city needed a communication platform that allowed for easy and efficient content production that could be updated at a moment’s notice. After partnering with REACH Media Network, the Coliseum has been able to elevate its promotional content to strengthen its presence during events.

THE SOLUTION
The North Charleston Coliseum & Performing Arts Center wanted a modern communication system that would allow them to tailor their promotions to each event they plan to host. Additionally, the city wanted to implement automation into the solution it was planning to implement for digital signage. Using a mix of BrightSign and other digital signage media players, the company would use an automated audio solution through REACH Media Network to enforce its recently implemented Clear Bag policy. These audio cues would automatically trigger and remind audiences what bags are acceptable to use within the stadium’s limits. Before upgrading its signage solution, they would have to run these audio messages manually. After implementing 33 players throughout the two facilities and integrating REACH Media Network into its software, the city was ready to begin publishing content.
THE RESULTS
Since implementing REACH Media Network’s digital signage software, North Charleston has reinvented the way it pushes out content to its Coliseum and Performing Arts Center. Using an LS5 player and an aux cable, the city has been able to set up its Clear Bag audio solution and schedule content for it remotely in advance. The audio announcements will then automatically play during their assigned times. Additionally, many players are used on TV screens to promote events and make announcements near the front of each facility. These events can include:
- Hockey games
- Graduations
- Musical and Comedy shows
- Concerts
- Basketball
All content is full-screen, and the buildings are even able to utilize ad space for both internal and external sources. Aside from typical event promotions, each facility also uses displays for menu board content, highlighting tasty items and snack deals. With an easy-to-use layout editor, the team’s overall workflow has improved, and content publication has been more efficient.
