The Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego aims to provide families with a comfortable, safe, and convenient place to reside while children undergo treatment for serious, at times life-threatening conditions. Relying on community support and generous donors, the Ronald McDonald House has impacted many families by providing housing, meals, education, and, of course, world-class medical services. In order to acknowledge the community’s contributions and donations to this mission, the charity wanted to employ digital signage video walls to acknowledge a larger number of donors while highlighting volunteer efforts. Through a comprehensive digital signage network, the charity has been able to modernize its donor appreciation efforts and reach the community in a more impactful way.

From Physical Donor Wall to Digital Display
Before partnering with REACH Media Network, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego had a permanent, physical donor wall within its facility. This understandably led to the charity facing some restrictions over time. Due to the permanent nature of the wall, the facility could only highlight the largest donors. The Ronald McDonald House wanted to ensure they were recognizing those who were donating to them as much as possible, so they needed a scalable solution to highlight more names and organizations. Additionally, all other content was reliant on impact reports and website communications. This provided a limited number of contact points for the charity to reach its audience and cultivate excitement around certain fundraising events. With these goals and problems in mind, the company partnered with REACH Media Network to install digital donor walls. Over the past 5 years, the organization has honed its signage strategy and expanded its recognition efforts.
Customizable, White-Labeled Messaging
When you walk into the Ronald McDonald House Charity of San Diego, you will be greeted with 5 screens across from the front desk. 4 of these screens are dedicated to showcasing the charity’s cumulative donors. These screens constantly scroll through a list of names and organizations that have donated to the hospital’s cause. The final screen, located in the middle of the other donation screens, is used to highlight meals brought in for the day and to recognize which volunteer groups are in to prepare the meals for the children. When a meal service is not in session, the charity uses that screen to scroll through donor words of wisdom, stories from families, thank you messaging, and event promotions. An additional 5 screens are used as a scrolling list highlighting other partners, such as the Many Hearts Legacies Society, Giving Circle Members, and Corporate & Community Champions. The visually-engaging signage encourages guests to take pictures in front of the welcome screens and post them on social, proudly spreading the charity’s message and goals. The organization is also able to properly recognize its partners by displaying welcome and thank you displays, creating a personalized, mission-driven environment.
