WHAT IS SOC2 CERTIFICATION?

SOC2 stands for Systems and Organization Controls 2. It is a security framework that guides cloud-based service providers in protecting client data from unauthorized access points, security breaches, and other vulnerable network points. Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the process requires an auditor to evaluate an organization’s effectiveness in protecting user data and alignment with security principles. These principles are broken down into the 5 “Trust Services Criteria.” These include:

  • Security
  • Availability
  • Processing Integrity
  • Confidentiality
  • Privacy

Once the audit has finished, the auditor will submit a report to the AICPA for peer review. Once approved, the certification is awarded.
